Description

The North Cape is probably the most exciting destination for every biker in Europe. On the journey through the three Nordic countries Norway, Sweden and Finland, you will experience a breathtaking variety of landscapes and lots of highlights. Particularly worth mentioning are the Dalarna region, a cultural tradition-bearer in Sweden, and Lapland, which stretches across three countries. Here you will inevitably come into contact with the indigenous Scandinavian people, the Sami. Along the Norwegian coasts you will experience the Lofoten Islands and many, many (really many) fjords, as well as the Atlantic Road, Trollstigen and the world-famous Geirangerfjord.

This tour is organised as a self-drive group tour. This means that there is no tour guide on the tour, but all hotels and the two most important ferry crossings are pre-booked. The entire route is planned by us and the participants receive a detailed travel description, road maps and our route recommendation as a GPX file for their own GPS to download. If you prefer to travel alone, you can join up with other participants and experience one or two days or the whole tour together. Or you can just meet at the bar in the evening for a nightcap or two.

Our exclusive travel programme

Day 1: Arrival Oslo (Norway)

After arriving safely in Oslo, you will pick up your motorbike in the afternoon near the hotel. The rest of the day you have time to prepare yourself and your bike for the tour, go for a ride and meet other participants of the self-guided group tour.

Day 2: Oslo - Falun

475 km

The border region between Norway and Sweden is rich in forested sections, small and partly winding roads lead into Sweden in the province of Dalarna. Hardly any landscape embodies the Swedish idyll more: traditional red houses on the shore are not uncommon here. Above all, the historic copper town of Falun is famous even beyond Sweden's borders. It coined the name Falaunrot, which has adorned the town's wooden houses since the 16th century.

Day 3: Falun - Östersund

365 km

Östersund is situated on Sweden's fifth largest lake, Storsjön. The city centre is located on the island of Frösön and is a good place to visit the Jamtli open-air museum or the Frösö church with its distinctive wooden bell tower.

Day 4: Östersund - Skellefteå

400 km

Skellefteå is a small, cosy town near the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia. It is home to the oldest wooden bridge still in use in Scandinavia. Built with wide streets and many trees, it is also called the "City of Birches" and is one of Sweden's youngest cities.

Day 5: Skellefteå - Rovaniemi

375 km

Following the Gulf of Bothnia, you cross the Finnish border at the Torne River in Haparanda/Tornio. Rovaniemi is the capital of Finnish Lapland. Here you can marvel at a very successful Arctic museum, a beautiful Orthodox church and many public buildings designed by the Finnish star architect Alvor Alto. You will spend the night at the Arctic Circle, in Rovaniemi.

Day 6: Rovaniemi - Inari

330 km

The day begins with a visit to the famous Father Christmas village, where not only children's eyes light up. Lapland's vast landscape of stretched-out moors, forests and lakes is impressive. The Sami part of Lapland begins behind the small town of Sodankylä. Beware: reindeer may meet you on the road! Your destination is the town of Inari further to the northwest. The Siida Museum and Event Centre in Inari is a good place to start learning about and understanding Sami life.

Day 7: Inari - Honningsvåg

350 km

You will notice that Lapland is very sparsely populated when you drive the route to Karasjok in Norway. Here you will encounter the mighty Tana River valley. The Norwegian Sami have their modern parliament here, which is also open to the public. In Lakselv, on the wide Porsangerfjord, you will encounter the North Sea for the first time. On the western shore, you will pass the national park in Stabbursdalen and head towards your destination for the day and overnight stay in Honningsvåg, which is located directly in front of North Cape.

Day 8: North Cape and surroundings

70 km

The almost 35 km to the North Cape Rock can be done quickly. North Cape has been a popular tourist destination for about 200 years. The so-called North Cape Hall, an adventure centre, is carved into the rock above the North Sea. A second destination on the way back to Honningsvåg is Skarsvåg: around 60 people live in what is said to be the northernmost fishing village in the world.

Day 9: Honningsvåg - Sørkjosen

370 km

You are heading south again. The route leads over the mountains of Sennalandet to Alta and on to Sørkjosen on the Reisafjord, the end point of the day's stage.

Day 10: Sørkjosen - Harstad

290 km

From Olderdalen you take the ferry across the Lyngenfjord to Lyngseidet (approx. 40 min). The Lyngenfjord goes deep inland and gives you an impressive view with its high steep mountains on the shore of the fjord. Harstad in South Troms is the destination for the day.

Day 11: Harstad - Svolvaer

150 km

The journey to Svolvær, the capital of Lofoten, takes you across an island kingdom that lets you experience another facet of the Nordic landscape. The day is a little shorter, so you have plenty of time to look around the largest town in Lofoten and its surroundings.

Day 12: Svolvaer - Bodö

230 km

You enjoy another 130 km on the Lofoten Islands southwards and take the ferry from Moskenes back to the mainland to Bodø (journey time approx. 3.5 h, included in the tour price).

Day 13: Bodö - Bronnoysund

440 - 470 km

The longest day of the journey awaits you. You cross the Arctic Circle again and can choose between two routes: Either the more leisurely variant through the hinterland without fjord ferries with about 7 hours driving time or the adventurous and more eventful variant along the coast with many fjords and five ferry trips with about 8.5 hours total travelling time.

Day 14: Bronnoysund - Trondheim

370 km

You drive along the North Sea for a while and after a ferry crossing you turn into the hinterland. Passing several inland lakes and fjords, you finally reach the old capital Trondheim. A walk to the magnificent cathedral through the alleys of the over 1,000-year-old city is almost a must.

Day 15: Trondheim - Molde

 225 - 285 km

The journey takes you along some fjords to the famous Atlantic Road. In case of bad weather, we recommend the shorter route without the Atlantic Road. The day's destination, Molde, is on the north side of the wide Romsdalsfjord.

Day 16: Molde - Geiranger - Skei

290 km

Perhaps the most beautiful day of the trip is coming up. The highlights: great serpentines to Trollstigen with the 320 m high waterfall Stigfossen, the famous serpentines at Geiranger Fjord and an approx. 1 hour ferry ride through the most famous fjord in the world from Geiranger to Hellesylt (included). Other ferry crossings: Sølsnes - Åfarnes, 15 min; Linge - Eidsdal, 10 min; tickets for these two ferries can be purchased on site.

Day 17: Skei - Geilo

335 km

The day's destination, Geilo in southern Norway, is known for its ski resorts. The way there leads along some fjords, gives you the last two ferry crossings of the tour and the allegedly most beautiful mountain crossing in Norway.

Day 18: Geilo - Oslo

220 km

The last day of riding in Norway brings you back to Oslo. After your arrival in the afternoon, you drop off your motorbike near the hotel and enjoy the last evening of the trip at the hotel near the airport.

Day 19: Journey home

Drive to the airport and return home with many beautiful memories in our luggage. End of the trip.
