Description

The start of the deluxe edition of the "Cruise on 2 wheels" is the well-known seaside resort of Opatija on the northern Croatian Adriatic coast. We ride our motorbikes directly into the harbour of Opatija and park in front of our "floating hotel deluxe", which will be our home for the next week. We have our multi-course dinner on the boat and enjoy the sea air and our first night on board this fantastic ship!

Our guided tour of Croatia begins the very next morning:

After breakfast we say goodbye to the captain and crew, get on our bikes and ride together along the coast towards the south. While we make a small detour into the mountains near the coast, our ship is already on its way by sea to the next meeting point.

At noon we will have a relaxing break with the possibility to eat something and taste the specialities of the "experienced region".

We then take the ferry to the island of Rab, where our boat is already waiting for us when we arrive in the harbour of the island's capital of the same name. We park the motorbikes directly in the harbour and retire to "our rooms" to freshen up for the evening. After dinner, which the ship's chef has conjured up for us, we can explore the small harbour and the old town, enjoy a leisurely drink and look forward to the next day: the route takes us to Dalmatia and two nights "at sea" await us on this special anniversary trip.

And so we ride beautiful, carefully selected routes on mostly excellent road surfaces between coastal roads, hinterland and island roads and spend the night in a different harbour every evening, but always in our own cabin. This means we don't have to pack our suitcases for the whole week and can enjoy the wonderful tours through incredibly impressive and constantly changing landscapes without any luggage on our bikes.

The daily stages range from 145 km to a maximum of 245 km. The total mileage during the tour is about 1,070 km.

Experienced top tour guides lead the tour and show us some of the most beautiful and exciting roads in Croatia. And they also make sure that no one gets lost: for safety's sake, there is also a support vehicle ready to take a broken-down bike to the next port. Remote beaches and bays, picturesque coastal and mountain roads, idyllic villages and impressive medieval towns - all this is waiting for YOU!

Our floating home is a small cruise ship in the Deluxe category with a length of just under 40 metres. It has 19 fully air-conditioned guest cabins, either with a double bed or two separate single beds. All cabins are, of course, equipped with their own bathroom and toilet, regardless of whether they are on the main deck or the lower deck.

Cabins "on deck" are cabins on the main deck (the deck on which you board the ship), cabins "below deck" are cabins in the hull of the ship. All cabins are outside cabins. The advantage of cabins on deck is that you have direct access from the main deck and larger "windows", while cabins below deck are often quieter. Cabins below deck naturally have portholes.

Breakfast and dinner are taken in the "dining room", which with its bar is also available as a lounge for socialising in the evenings.

The country we are visiting has many special features to offer us: Croatia is not a large country, but it is Mediterranean and Central European, mountainous and flat, maritime and continental at the same time. In a relatively small area, one finds landscapes here that one would otherwise have to search for in far-flung regions of Europe and the world: Thus, in Croatia we find a forested, indented coastline with a multitude of islands, well-preserved old Mediterranean towns with narrow streets and stone houses, but also green pastureland on the coast with dry stone walls. The mountainous regions are adorned with extensive woodlands, romantic lakes and picturesque villages like in the Alps, but also rough, bare limestone cliffs with deep gorges, the hill country is crowned by vineyards, medieval castles and fortresses. And we will see some of it......!

Cruising on 2 wheels - you have the luxury of a great cruise ship and the experiences of a motorbike tour. All this without having to pack your suitcase every day - your "hotel" is travelling with you!

Our exclusive travel programme

Day 1: The day of arrival Independent journey to Opatija

Even during the Danube Monarchy, the "Curort Abbazia" was one of the most fashionable seaside resorts on the Adriatic and still delights visitors today with its beautiful parks and Art Nouveau houses. If you want to come by car and motorbike trailer: no problem! We can reserve guarded parking spaces near the harbour. Embarkation takes place in the early afternoon and the rest of the afternoon can be used for a short walk to the nearby centre of Opatija. First dinner together and first night on board.

Day 2: Opatija - Rab

245 km

We leave our ship and the friendly Opatija and look forward to the first great bendy stretch in the mountains with many, many curves and some hairpin bends until we reach the "Jadranska Magistrala", the Adriatic coastal road. Then we take the car ferry across the Velebit Channel to Rab. Overnight stay in Rab.

Day 3: Rab - Zadar/Dalmatia

240 km

We take the car ferry back to the mainland and follow the coastal road to Karlobag, where we make our next detour into the hinterland and over the mountains. We cruise up to almost 950 metres above sea level (we start at 0 metres!) on a well-maintained overland road, which is the first highlight of the day! On this day trip, we cross the Velebit Nature Park heading north and are amazed by the changing landscape. On the way back to the sea, there are a few more bends ahead of us as we head towards our destination for the day: Zadar. We park our motorbikes safely in a car park, our floating luxury hotel is located right at the entrance to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Zadar's old town, which of course wants to be explored extensively!

Day 4: At sea in Telašćica Nature Park and Kornati National Park

0 km

We are looking forward to a motorbike-free day to relax: The Kornati National Park with its more than 150 islands is one of the most famous national parks in Croatia, bordered by the equally impressive Telašćica Nature Park in the north. Our captain will show us some of the most beautiful places today while we enjoy the flair of our deluxe ship and the air of the Adriatic coast. Those who like to swim in the sea will have their swimsuits ready during a stopover and swim a lap around the boat!

Day 5: Dalmatia - Mandre

145 km

Freshly rested from our day at sea, we experience the most beautiful part of the "Magistrala" from the southern end of the Velebit Canal to shortly after Karlobag. We cross over to the island of Pag by ferry and spend the night in Mandre harbour.

Day 6: Mandre - Mali Lošinj

230 km

Have you ever done island hopping by motorbike? Today we will be travelling to 4 islands! From Pag (1) we take the car ferry to the mainland and follow the coastal road northwards. We cross the bridge formerly known as "Tito Most" to reach Krk (2), then take the ferry to Cres (3) and later the small bridge to the island of Lošinj (4). Overnight stay in the harbour of Mali Lošinj.

day 7: Mali Lošinj - Opatija

210 km

On the last day of travelling, we leave Lošinj and Cres and take the ferry one last time to Brestova in Istria. From there, our route continues to the truffle stronghold of Istria, the town of Buzet. The old town centre of Buzet is situated on the top of a hill and is home to one of the most famous truffle restaurants in Istria. If you like, you can indulge in truffles for lunch here. The highlight (in the truest sense of the word) is the crossing of the Učka Mountains, to which Opatija owes its evening freshness due to the fall winds from the lushly wooded slopes. Winding roads take us back to the Opatija Riviera and the starting point of our very special journey, the harbour of Opatija. Last night together in Opatija.

Saturday: Disembarkation, farewell and departure

Unfortunately, our extraordinary journey comes to an end today. After breakfast we leave the ship and set off on our journey home with many wonderful memories in our luggage.

IMPORTANT: Route changes for the motorbike tour and also for the boat route are expressly reserved, especially for weather-related reasons!
In addition, the captain of the ship reserves the right to change the route to be travelled and the overnight ports at any time in the event of unfavourable weather conditions.

Conditions of travel

The special conditions for this trip from Motorbike and holiday and the service providers used. These will be handed out to you before booking the trip.

All guests on the ship must abide by the ship's rules (which are available in writing on the ship), especially with regard to the instruction not to bring any drinks on board. Otherwise, the captain reserves the right to ask the guest to leave the vessel. Due to special conditions and requirements for mooring boats in some Croatian ports, vessels may be moored directly next to each other, so that guests have to step from one vessel to another to get ashore, with distances between vessels to be expected. In such cases, guests must take special care and do so at their own risk. Assistance from the crew is available on request.

Minimum number of participants: 24 persons, divided into 2 motorbike groups. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the tour operator reserves the right to cancel the tour up to 4 weeks before the start of the tour or to conduct the tour with only one guide. The number of participants is limited! Registrations will be considered in the order of arrival. The tour can only be booked as a package.

A frank word among bikers

Our trip is not a driving course, but a challenging and varied motorbike tour. On guided motorbike tours with your own motorbike, riders and passengers from different countries of origin and with different motorbikes meet for a joint trip. As different as the participants are, as different will usually be the motorbikes, which makes for a fun and interesting trip.
As with all group activities, a certain team spirit and a certain adaptation of the individual to the group is necessary for these tours. If you let yourself go, you will certainly "experience" a great tour, meet new friends and have a lot of fun, because the shared experience of driving dynamics and the magic of curves in a charming landscape unites people. And on this trip, the focus is on motorcycling in the unique and sensational landscape.
