Description

Route 66, world-famous as the "Mainstreet of America"is 2448 miles or around 3940 kilometres long and runs from Chicago to Los Angeles or vice versa, depending on how you look at it. This is because many of the emigrants who travelled west also travelled it back again. It crosses 3 time zones in 8 states of the USA. The old pioneers of the West planned and built this road back in 1926. It was finally completely paved in 1932. The 1950s were the glory days of Route 66, when thousands of cars travelled bumper to bumper to experience the adventure of the West. Hotels, motels, petrol stations, classic restaurants and the new mobile America were everywhere. Many of the classic routes, restaurants, petrol stations and historic sights are restored and in their original condition, just as they were in the 1950s. The unique and nostalgic Route 66 is the road that someone in heaven created for Harley-Davidson® riders. Simply put - this is "the guided tour" in America!
