Description

Bay of Kvarner and Istria
Plitvice Lakes and Island Hopping

Opatija, the pearl on the Adriatic, is the starting point for some wonderful days on which we will get to know a part of Croatia on joint excursions. Look forward to cruising on one of the most beautiful
Coastal roads of the world!

The country we are visiting has many special features to offer us: Croatia is not a large country, yet it is simultaneously Mediterranean and Central European, mountainous and flat, maritime and continental. In a relatively small area, you can find landscapes here that you would otherwise have to look for in distant regions of Europe and the world: Croatia has a forested, indented coastline with a multitude of islands, well-preserved old Mediterranean towns with narrow streets and stone houses, but also green pastureland with dry stone walls along the coast. The mountain regions are characterised by extensive woodlands, romantic lakes and picturesque villages like in the Alps, but also rough, bare limestone cliffs with deep gorges. The hill country is crowned by vineyards, medieval castles and fortresses. And we will see some of it......!

Tour dates:
Approx. 1,240 km from/to Graz area

Tour Characteristics:

Difficulty level medium to difficult, with mountain passes, serpentines, coastal roads, city crossings and ferry crossings, not suitable for beginners or riders with little experience in alpine terrain.

Our exclusive travel programme

Day 1 - Graz - Slovenia - Opatija

350km

Meeting at the agreed starting point near Graz. After getting to know each other briefly, we set off on our
journey together. We cross southern Styria and Slovenia on selected, beautiful country roads, cross the border into Croatia and arrive in Opatija in the late afternoon. Even during the Danube Monarchy, the "spa town of Abbazia" was one of the most fashionable seaside resorts on the Adriatic and still delights visitors today
due to its beautiful parks and Art Nouveau houses. We move into our hotel near the
centre of Opatija, which will serve as our base for our rallies over the next few days. We are sure to find a nice bar around the centre for a cosy nightcap. First of 5 overnight stays in Opatija on the Kvarner Bay.

TIP: There is a hotel at the starting point of the tour. For participants travelling further to Graz, we recommend arriving the day before and spending the night there. We also recommend this extra night for participants with one of our hire motorbikes! And if you want to come to the start of the tour with your car and motorbike trailer, you can park your car at the hotel during the tour.

Day 2 - Plitvice Lakes and
Croatian coastal road

390 km

Today we get up early, because there is a lot to see: Croatia shows us some of its most beautiful sides!
We leave the pleasant Opatija and drive along the Croatian coastal road "Jadranska Magistrala"
past Rijeka in a southerly direction. Our destination is a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Plitvice National Park
Lakes. We visit the park and follow in the footsteps of Winnetou and Old Shatterhand
(large parts of Karl May's "Der Schatz im Silbersee" and of course "Winnetou I - III" were
filmed here). The return journey is either over the mountains or via a stretch of motorway, depending on how we feel after the visit and how long we have stayed in the park. Excursion subject to weather conditions, entrance fees not included. Second overnight stay in Opatija.

Day 3 - Rest day / short tour

After two long days, today is all about relaxation. For example with a
leisurely stroll along the 12-kilometre-long Lungomare coastal promenade or through the
the enchanting parks of Opatija. The beautiful architecture, fragrances from lush
Gardens and the flavours of the region's many delicacies invite you to enjoy. And who knows?
Perhaps one or two of you will discover the legendary maiden with the seagull. If we
can't stand it without a motorbike, we can of course also organise a small, or even larger
Turn round. Third night in Opatija.

A frank word among bikers

Our trip is not a riding course, but a challenging and varied motorbike tour. On guided motorbike tours with your own motorbike, riders and passengers from different countries of origin and with different motorbikes meet up for a trip together. As different as the participants are, as different will usually be the motorbikes, which makes for a fun and interesting journey. As with all group activities, these tours also require a certain team spirit and a certain degree of individual adaptation to the group. If you get involved, you are sure to "experience" a great tour, make new friends and have a lot of fun, because the shared experience of driving dynamics and the magic of curves in a charming landscape is a unifying experience. And on this trip, motorcycling in the unique and sensational landscape takes centre stage.
