Description

It's an open secret:
Slovenia has some of the most beautiful gravel roads in Europe!

And many of these gravel roads are just waiting to be explored by adventurous motorcyclists. Isn't that what we like to do?
The starting point of this tour is near Graz in southern Austria, easy to reach and not far from the border with Slovenia. From there we start our journey southwards and enjoy 6 days of travelling along deep green forests and fertile valleys, see mighty peaks, crystal-clear lakes, the mysterious karst world and indulge in the culinary delights of the traditional modern cuisine. Our luggage is transported from hotel to hotel and is already waiting for us when we arrive.

Tour dates:
From/to Graz approx. 1,400 km, of which approx. 65 % paved and approx. 35 % unpaved roads.
Difficulty level: easy to medium, suitable for enduro beginners with a lot of experience on tarmac, especially on narrow, winding mountain roads

Tour Characteristics:
The tour is suitable for all those riders who have good control of their touring Enduro on narrow and steep mountain roads and now want to gain their first experience on gravel roads. Touring enduro bikes of all sizes are welcome on this tour. The use of at least all-round tyres suitable for road and off-road use is a prerequisite, especially in wet conditions, more off-road-oriented tyres are an enormous advantage. This tour is not suitable for road motorbikes and enduro bikes with purely asphalt tyres!

Our exclusive travel programme

Day 1: Graz (AT) - Celje (SLO)

240 km

Meeting at the agreed starting point near Graz. After getting to know each other briefly, we set off on our joint journey "Slovenia for travelling enduros". In Austria we stay on tarmac, shortly after the border we switch to gravel for the first time and then enjoy the view over the Mislinja valley and as far as the Julian Alps during a coffee break in front of a picturesquely situated mountain hut. Before dinner, we can take a short walk through one of the oldest towns in Slovenia. Overnight stay for 2 nights in the same hotel in the Celje area.
40 % paved road - 60 % unpaved road

Day 2: "Slovenian Styria"

220 km

The advantage of staying two nights in the same hotel is that you don't have to pack every day and can leave your luggage in your room. So we set off on our motorbikes, exploring "Slovenian Styria" and travelling one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the country. Second overnight stay in the Celje area.
70 % paved road - 30 % unpaved road

Day 3: Celje - Postojna

280 km

We continue in a south-westerly direction. We cross one of the wildest and most remote regions in Slovenia on a mix of winding, small and little-used tarmac roads and great gravel roads. Incidentally, our overnight stop has achieved worldwide fame because of its extraordinary cave: Postojna.
Again, we stay in the same hotel for two nights.
75 % paved road - 25 % unpaved road

Day 4: "Inner Carniola" day tour

190 km

A day of several highlights awaits us: the route is not only scenically beautiful, but also very interesting for motorcyclists and the natural sights "along the way" with natural bridges and karst caves are very impressive. If we wish, we can also visit the Adelsberg Cave (the second largest stalactite cave in the world) in Postojna directly after breakfast. Second night in Postojna.
55 % tarmac road - 45 % non-tarmac road

Day 5: Postojna - Tolmin

200 km

The west is our destination. More precisely, the Soča Valley in the south of the Triglav National Park. Before we get there, we experience a lot of great and sometimes very small and narrow roads, including along the Italian border and through picturesque vineyards. Overnight stay in the Tolmin area.
70 % paved road - 30 % unpaved road

Day 6: Tolmin - Graz area

290 km

The last day of driving is a real challenge and once again showcases the beauty and diversity of the Slovenian landscape and its roads. Small, winding tarmac paths, great gravel roads, a few kilometres of well-maintained mountain passes in between and another fine gravel road to say goodbye. An exciting mix to round off a great tour of Slovenia! In the late afternoon, we arrive back at the starting point of the trip, where we spend our last evening together and can reflect on the last few days in a cosy atmosphere
80 % paved road - 20 % unpaved road

Day 7: Journey home

Unfortunately, it's time to say goodbye today.
With many wonderful memories in our luggage, we make our way home again. End of the tour.

A frank word among bikers

On guided motorbike tours with your own motorbike, riders and passengers from different countries of origin and with different motorbikes meet for a joint trip. As different as the participants are, as different will usually be the motorbikes, which makes for a fun and interesting trip. As with all group activities, a certain team spirit and adaptation of the individual to the group is necessary on these trips so that everyone can enjoy the trip and their motorbike holiday.
