Description
The tour with the destination of the navel of the world, as the Incas named the capital Cusco. On day 8 we visit Machu Picchu, the legendary and mystical ruins. The 2-week tour takes us to other interesting places, wonderful routes from the coast to the Andean highlands and back to the coast.
Over the next 15 days, we cover a distance of around 2,300 kilometres. The highlights of this tour: Nasca, the scarps and lines that we marvel at from a small aeroplane. After Abancay, a motorbike route of the "finest" with many up and down bends, through the Valley of the Pumas. The Inca capital Cusco. The city at the centre of the world, our starting point to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. Certainly a highlight of this tour is the journey from Abancay via Chincheros - Andahuaylas to Ayacucho. We pass typical Peruvian villages that not many Peruvian travellers get to see. During these 3 days, we pass through a wide variety of climate zones with vegetation that is hard to beat. From the Andean highlands to the coast we cross the Abra Apacheta pass at 4746 metres and then the serpentine road takes us back to the Panamericana. Peru is a paradise that is hard to beat in terms of diversity. Before reaching Lima, we make another stop in Paracas, from where we go on excursions to the Paracas National Park. A visit to the islands of Ballestas, also known as Little Galapagos, with its sea lions, penguins and many seabirds is another highlight.
Off-road experience not required, but an advantage.
