Travelling is deadly...for prejudices!
Mark Twain's saying is particularly apt for Romania, a country with friendly people, huge potential, but far too little known and burdened with far too many prejudices. We invite you to join us in discovering the seemingly endless primeval forests of the Carpathians, the well-built pass roads, the mysterious monasteries, medieval fortified churches, picturesque villages and towns, but also the natural paradise of the Danube Delta, as well as the Black Sea in 13 days on a motorbike.

From Vienna approx. 3,750 km, medium-high difficulty with mountain crossings incl. serpentines, city rides and motorway stages. Roads of different quality levels and with possible deficiencies, partly also with
Potholes. Not suitable for inexperienced riders with little experience.

Day 1: Vienna - Oradea/Großwardein
495 km
Meeting at the agreed starting point near Vienna. After all the luggage has been stowed in the support vehicle, we start our journey together.
journey. First of all, we have to master the connecting stage to Romania. Mostly on the motorway, we drive through the Hungarian Puszta, past Budapest, until we reach our destination, Romania.
Arrival and overnight stay in Oradea, or in German: Grosswardein.
TIP: There is a hotel at the starting point of the tour. For participants travelling further to Vienna, we recommend arriving the day before and spending the night there. We also recommend this extra night for participants with one of our hire motorbikes! And if you want to arrive by car and motorbike trailer at the start of the tour, you can park your car at the hotel during the tour (surcharge).
Day 2: Oradea - Cluj-Napoca/Clausenburg
280 km
Mostly off the main roads, we drive over the Western Carpathians and a first newly asphalted pass. Around midday
we reach the village of Zimbor, the "liquor capital" of Romania. Lunch is cooked for us by a local family and we will be delighted with the food! Our destination for the day is the second largest city in Romania.
Cluj-Napoca can look back on over 2,000 years of history. It is a cultural centre and today has around 400,000 inhabitants. During a short city tour we see a lively city, with many

Day 3: Cluj - Bukovina

We reach the former German town of Bistritz via the Transylvanian hills. We continue through the Eastern Carpathians along particularly scenic and beautiful roads to the famous Borgo Pass, where - according to the Irish writer Bram Stoker - the
where the famous Count Dracula is said to have lived. The highlight of the day is a recently tarmaced mountain crossing, which was previously used almost exclusively by monks. Day 4: Bukovina - Bran
390 km
After an early breakfast, we continue to explore Bukovina. We then travel over the Carpathians to Romania's most spectacular gorge, Bicaz. In the evening we reach Transylvania, the land where German-speaking colonists settled 800 years ago. We spend the night in Bran, known for its castle, the Törzburg, or THE "Dracula Castle", which we will visit on a private guided tour before dinner in the Queen's Tea House.
Day 5: Bran - Braila
300 km
We leave the Carpathians. Wonderful motorbike routes take us into Wallachia and later to the Danube, which we will encounter for the first time in Romania on this day. The landscape changes, after the green Carpathians we ride through dry, desert-like landscapes until we reach the Danube. Overnight stay in the Braila area.
Day 6: Braila - Danube Delta

A short but fantastic day of travelling with a very special destination lies ahead of us. We cross the Danube on the third-longest suspension bridge in Europe, which will only open in 2023, before one of Europe's most fascinating natural paradises opens up to us: the Danube Delta, our home for the next two nights. Day 7: Danube Delta & Black Sea excursion

On our motorbike day off, we immerse ourselves in Europe's largest wetland. A place of incredible beauty and full of life.

Day 8: Danube Delta - Constanta

Day 9: Constanta - Bucharest

We set off early and arrive in the Romanian capital shortly after midday. Our city tour begins immediately after checking into our rooms
with a coach. Of course, we will also visit the "Palace of the People" (Ceausescu's madness, as many Romanians call it). After all, it is the largest building in Europe and one of the largest in the world. Dinner in the

Day 10: Bucharest - Sibiu/Hermannstadt

One of the most spectacular roads in Europe awaits us: the Transfagarasan. It takes us up the second highest mountain road in Romania at 2,042 metres. And with a bit of luck, we might even come across a local bear! We then head downhill along incredibly picturesque bends back to Transylvania. We reach Sibiu/Hermannstadt in the late afternoon. Sibiu was the European Capital of Culture in 2007 and offers one of the most beautiful cityscapes in Romania. Before dinner we explore the city
and then enjoy a relaxing evening in perhaps the most beautiful city in Transylvania. Overnight stay in Sibiu/Hermannstadt.
Day 11: Sibiu . Iron Gate

We say goodbye to Sibiu and Transylvania and cross the Southern Carpathians on the highest road in Romania - the Transalpina, also known as the "Road of the King". As an ancient processional route, it was
was a secret for a long time and was first officially opened in the 20th century. It was finally tarmaced between 2009 and 2011 and has been an insider tip and special highlight for all motorcyclists ever since. Highest point: the Urdele mountain pass at 2,132 metres. In the late afternoon we reach our hotel, which is located directly on the Danube, which also forms the border with Serbia. After a short boat trip (weather permitting), we enjoy the tranquillity of the Danube.

Day 12: Iron Gate - Timisoara/Temeswar

In the morning, we cycle along the Danube into Banat. The landscape is particularly exciting, as you cycle over mountains and at the same time along
the Danube. In the afternoon, we reach Timisoara/Temeschwar, the city that was conquered and rebuilt by the Austrian Prince Eugene. Timisoara also became famous as the place where the Romanian revolution broke out in 1989, which led to the fall of the Ceausescu regime. Overnight stay in the old town

Day 13: Journey home

It's time to say goodbye to our new Romanian friends. With many fond memories, we make our way home, either independently or together with other participants in the group. After the bikes are faster than
the support vehicle, some take their own luggage with them. If you don't want to do this, you can pick it up later at the tour start hotel.

Conditions of travel
The conditions for this trip from Motorbike and holiday. These will be given to you before you book your trip.
Minimum number of participants: 12 people.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up to four weeks before the start of the trip or to organise it with a local guide as the driver of the support vehicle. The number of participants is limited. Registrations will be considered in the order in which they arrive. A deposit of 20 % of the tour price must be paid upon registration, with the balance due 20 days before the start of the tour.
